Mr Angus Thomson is a leading consultant gynaecologist based in Worcestershire. He specialises in the treatment of endometriosis, pelvic pain and prolapse. She is a UK principal investigator for several international randomised control trials for novel therapies for thyroid eye disease. She is the research lead for oculoplastics. She has a strong interest in teaching and training, and runs courses and lectures to develop senior doctors in training. She is an honorary lecturer for UCL and is invited to lecture regularly at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Professor Ross Hunter is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist (specialist in heart rhythm management). He has over 20 years of experience and has been an arrhythmia specialist for over 15 years. He is the Clinical Director of Arrhythmia Services at The Barts Heart Centre, the largest cardiac centre in the UK and one of the largest in the world. He leads a team of 26 excellent arrhythmia and devices consultants in providing 24/7 care for complex cases from around the UK. His previous roles at Barts have included Director of Arrhythmia Research and Lead for AF services. The Barts arrhythmia unit was recently commended in the houses of parliament for innovations in arrhythmia care when given several awards by the Arrhythmia Alliance during “Heart Rhythm Week”.

He is an internationally recognised specialist in the management of arrhythmias. He performs catheter ablations for all arrhythmias and according to NICOR, he performs approximately 200 complex catheter ablations per year making him consistently one of the highest volume operators in the UK for catheter ablation. He also implants, revises and extracts the full range of pacemakers including biventricular pacemakers, ICDs, sub-cutaneous ICDs and leadless pacemakers. He is at the forefront of his specialty and has rare expertise at the cutting edge of new techniques and technologies in the fields of ablation and pacing including robotic technology, 3D mapping systems, and cryoballoons. He has high success rates and very low complication rates and a track record for helping patients with difficult problems, such as complex repeat procedures for those with previously failed ablation, patients with structural heart disease or other high-risk cases.

Professor Hunter completed a BSc in cardiovascular medicine at Imperial College London in 1998 and was awarded his medical degree (MBBS) with distinction at Guy's, King's & St Thomas' in 2001, Professor Hunter obtained a PhD in novel methods for mapping and ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation. During this time, he was a finalist for both the British and the US Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator of the year award in 2011. He continues to lead research in this area to advance our understanding of arrhythmias and pilot new techniques to improve outcomes.

He has published over 150 research papers in the field of arrhythmias on PubMed. He is an elected council member of the British Heart Rhythm Society, an expert advisor to NICOR and a board member of the BHRS multicentre trials group. He is also editor-in-chief of Cardiac Rhythm News. He continues to develop new techniques and technologies to investigate and treat arrhythmias, runs clinical trials and supervises PhD students.

He sees patients with palpitations, fatigue, breathlessness and chest pain. He currently practises privately in London at One Welbeck Heart Health and the London Bridge Hospital. He also practices in Berkshire at The Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead.

Besides his high-quality laryngology practice, Professor Nouraei is a notable figure in laryngology and surgical peer-reviewed research. He has authored more than 100 publications throughout his career and has co-edited two reference textbooks for clinicians and students as well. Professor Nouraei is the Outcomes Evaluation Lead for the national GIRFT programme and is also a member of the European Laryngological Society’s Committee on Laryngotracheal Stenosis.

Professor Choudhury graduated in medicine at the University of Oxfrod and undertook his postgraduate medical training at the The Royal Brompton and Hammersmith Hospitals in London, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. His main research interests focus on treatments for atherosclerosis and vascular inflammation. 

In 2013, he led a project, which incorporated the use of magnetic resonance imaging to test Leonardo da Vinci’s hypothesis on the passage of blood across the aortic valve. Professor Choudhury has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, with a particular focus on vascular disease, cholesterol, and inflammation.

He is a past President of the Royal Society of Medicine Section on Lipids, Metabolism and Vascular Risk and  has been elected to Fellowships of the Royal College of Physicians (London); the American College of Cardiology the and European Society of Cardiology. He is a Fellow of Balliol College Oxford. He is a Section Editor (Clinical Cardiology) for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the world’s leading clinical journal in this field.
